Collegiate attendees will be able to register for these tours by going back into the National Conference registration and clicking on the appropriate tour. For each tour, there is a $10 sitting fee. These tours are only available for Collegiate Full Conference attendees.

Feel the Energy! | Take a Tour of a ComEd Substation

Join Exelon Corporation for a tour of one of ComEd’s, an Exelon Company, electrical substations! This tour will give you the opportunity to gain insights into our electrical infrastructure that supports the nation’s third largest metropolitan region. You’ll learn about some of the innovative ways ComEd is enhancing our energy grid and how the talents and skill sets you possess can help create a safer and more reliable future. With over 6,600 employees, ComEd serves approximately 4 million customers covering 11,400 square miles of service with over 90,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 1,300 substations and 1.3 utility poles. ComEd is one of the largest electric utility companies in the nation that is built around a network of talent that stems emergency responders to line-workers to engineers to substation and fleet mechanics to scientists and beyond.

GE Healthcare

The Arlington Heights site is part of GE Healthcare Life Sciences business.  It manufactures radiopharmaceutical drugs used in the detection and diagnosis of certain diseases on SPECT / Nuclear Imaging equipment. Site’s main products are DaTscan and AdreView imaging agents, as well as variety of products with isotopes of Iodine, Thallium, and Indium.  The tour will highlight the cyclotron particle accelerators, as well as bulk material processing and final product processing.

Northrop Grumman

The Production Tour will highlight the Rolling Meadows flexible factory.  You will see three large production activities on the main production floor - Viper Laser, LITENING, and JSF Electro-Optical Distributed Aperture System (EO-DAS).  You will also see the InfraRed Counter Measures (IRCM) production and the Microelectronics assembly facilities.
